Artist Statement

Working in a variety of medias and with a variety of techniques and textures, A.E. Dickens explores the way creating or removing space from everyday objects impacts the interpretation. Using both vivid and dull palettes, Dickens approaches images that exhibit immediacy; seeking to address the individual's perspective, isolation, or relationship to space without editorial conceits.

About the Artist

Dickens holds a degree in fine art and at various times have been an art teacher, advertising executive and corporate flunky. After ten years working and creating for such companies as America Online and Bank of America in Washington DC, Dickens has returned to North Carolina and is pursuing both artistic and professional goals.
